Chadron Lifespan Wellness Team Present: Jay Sutliffe, Celeste Lee, Sherri Blome, Chuck Kutschara, Dawn Brammer, Don King, Kim Madsen Old Business b. Equipment - The LB840 Grant proposal was denied as presented but we could rewrite it to place them at the college. In addition the City has decided that we are not allowed to have equipment with moving parts. The college is willing to let us put all the equipment at the college and they are willing to provide lighting and surveillance cameras. The ROTC program has also been approved for a ROPES course at the college. Members from the Wellness Team met with an ROTC representative to discuss the idea of combining both projects. The City also wanted us to use their approved vendor. This could be a "wellness complex". Mobius Communications will purchase one item for us. 2. Website Update - Get information to Chuck Kutschara anytime you want updates. He will work on getting the donation portion set up. 3. Lose & Win Update - Tomorrow is the last weigh in. We will need checks cut following that for the first place winners in each category. Some participants are wanting to repeat it again next semester. The kickoff could be January 22 at the Wellness Fair. The consensus of the group was to go ahead with this. 4. Fit4Life Update - Continuing 5. Early Childhood Annual Conference - Jessica Davies, Roz Mader and Bob Griese will be presenting at the Early Childhood Conference. 6. Worksite Wellness - PPHD - The Public Health District sets up a wellness program for businesses. Jessica from PPHD would come in and do a needs assessment at a business. They would then plug in a program tied to local services to meet the needs. She would need a contact person in Chadron who might know the business owners. Jessica will have a booth at the Wellness Fair in January to kick this off. We would like members of the Wellness Team to each take 3 businesses to contact and invite businesses to the kickoff event on January 22. Any group in the community could participate in this as far as we know including church groups etc. Jessica will provide a letter for our team to sign and send out to the businesses. We will keep working on our list of businesses and who will contact them and we'll get the letters out right after the first of the year. 7. Wellness Fair - Scheduled for January 22. We could hand out the walking trail brochures and do the step testing as well. 8. Other - Turkey Trot is this Saturday - Registration is 8 - 9 and the race starts at 9:00.
