b. Activities/press conference: Free swimming from 6:00-7:00 PM. We have postponed the Try-athalon portion to a later date (see #6 below). Still waiting to hear about some of the specific details from Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BC/BS) regarding door prizes. Our group will try and proved Dennis with a script/schedule to work from for the event. There will be recognition of N-Lighten, The Wellness Challenge and other people/awards during the evening.
c. Promotion/advertising: We have contracted to have KCSR radio do a live remote with Dennis Brown also serving as our Master of Ceremonies. Banner ad and commercials are being run on KCSR radio. Have sent out emails to list serves regarding event. BC/BS has sent out invitations to the Chadron Chamber of Commerce mailing list. BC/BS has also been working with our media outlets in the region. Sherri has contacted local Channel 4 for TV announcements. Don will notify the senior citizen network about the event.
d. Other: We have individuals who have vocalized a willingness to help out however we need them. We decided the best way to utilize volunteers is to assign them to activities or tasks as needed the night of the event. The City has been notified and will provide additional picnic tables and SWAN will proved additional garbage cans for the event. We will have 6 Booths set up at the event: (1) Lose & Win/Fit 4 Life (Dawn & Sarah), (2) Panhandle Public Health District, (3) WCHR blood pressures, (4) CCR, (5) BC/BS registration , (6) Walking Routes and outdoor fitness equipment.
2. Checking Account: we have opened a checking account at First National North Platte with an opening deposit of $500.00. Janet Johnson (from Chadron Community Recreation: CCR) and Jay are the two required signatures at this point.
3. Outdoor Fitness Equipment placement: We have now received official approval from CSC as well as the City regarding the placement of the outdoor fitness equipment. There will be 3 sites: (1) CSC near the maintenance shed on the Sandoz walking path just South of Armstrong/Elliot Field, (2) Wilson Park just South of the hospitals medical imaging equipment, (3) near the playground equipment at the Ball field complex on North Main. We will proceed with the steps necessary to purchase and install the equipment. We need to secure additional funding to cover shipping costs, installation materials, etc. We will work with the City Maintenance department (Scott & Janet), Job Corp and others in this process. Our tentative timeline anticipates a October/November installation. We need to work out an agreement with the City and CSC regarding maintenance, upkeep, parts replacement, etc.
4. Website: Chuck Kutschara is willing to design/set up a website for us. It will cost $5.95/month for a domain name and hosting. We have selected www.chadronwellness.com as our preferred address. Chuck has also offered to maintain the site for us. We hope to place an event calendar on the website as well as any other pertinent information. We hope to also provide links to other organizations. We will proceed with this item.
5. Calendar of events: we are compiling a wellness event calendar. Please submit your wellness related events to be added to the calendar to be distributed to the community as well as placed on our website after it is launched.
